Representing You
The Australian Podiatry Association (WA) undertakes to represent the views of members in various quarters. Submissions are made to various government departments and agencies both state based and nationally on behalf of members. When you join the Association you can be a part of these submissions.

Participation
Participation can happen in many ways for an Association member. When a patient moves to a new location the treating podiatrist may use the Association membership list to refer the patient onto their next Podiatrist. The amount of participation in Association affairs is up to you. The Association offers special interest groups such as High Risk Foot Care and Sports Medicine for interested podiatrists.

Education
Association members receive reduced attendance fees at Association Continuing Professional Development (CDP) seminars and conferences and when attending the Australasian conference. Various links to on-line learning providers are also available to members. The Association also offers the mandatory CPR courses required for national registration for members.

The Association also has back copies of all state association journals for members to borrow.

Indeminity Insurance
Indemnity Insurance is available through Guild Insurance which provides insurance at competitive rates. Guild Insurance provide a high quality product and are happy to tailor individual products to meet your needs.

Joint Marketing
Association members participate in "Foot Health Week" that would otherwise not be available during the rest of the year.

Brochures and posters are available at discounted prices to members. Association members also have access to Australasian Podiatry Council marketing logo, and other marketing tools. This is colourful promotional material which offers information Podiatry.

A range of laminated posters and display equipment is also available for members to borrow.

Australasian Journal (quarterly)
The Australasian Journal is sent at no additional cost to all members of the Association.

Accredited Podiatrist Programme
Only Current financial members of the Australian Podiatrist Association are entitled to use the Accredited Podiatrist logo. The logo is awarded on completion of approved activities relating to Podiatry (30 hours) and is valid for two years. The logo may appear on any surface at the discretion of the member, eg signs, brochures, clothing, letterhead, appointment cards and Yellow Pages advertisements.

Findapodiatrist website
Members have access to this unique website which lists all podiatrists by practice, postcode and specialty. This powerful tool is used regularly by other allied health professionals and the public to find podiatrists in their locality.

What does it mean to be a member of the Australian Podiatry Association?

To practice in Western Australia a podiatrist must be registered with the Podiatry Board of Australia.

All practitioners are regulated by the Podiatrist’s Registration Act.

Membership of the Australian Podiatry Association however is not mandatory for podiatrists.


The Australian Podiatry Association (WA) has the major objectives of assisting, educating, representing and promoting the cause of podiatry in Western Australia.

Since 1966, the Association has provided members with valuable resources, which enhance professional status and enable continued growth and success.

Only registered podiatrist who are prepared to follow the Association’s Code of Ethics are granted membership.
